The United Way Ben Kitchen Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Robert Munson, President of Central National Bank in Junction City on Thursday.

UW Luncheon

The award was presented at the United Way annual United Way Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at the C.L. Hoover Opera House. The award was presented by previous winners of the award. Ted Hayden of the YMCA, Junction City explained why Munson was deserving of the award,”He’s involved in his church, he’s involved in the YMCA, he’s involved in the United Way, he’s involved in everything that goes on out at Fort Riley and its all for the good of the community. In my mind that’s what a volunteer of the year is about.”

After receiving the award Munson had a few words to share, ” It’s a tremendous honor to be on the award named after you Ben.” Munson was referring to the initial volunteer of the year award winner Ben Kitchens, who was in attendance at the luncheon.

During the luncheon Ailleen Cray, Executive Director of the Junction City-Geary County United Way, honored the 2012 Honorary Chair, Ben Kitchens along with Barbara Craft, 2012 Campaign Chair.
