Marjorie Ann Mcay, a resident of the Junction City community, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at Valley View Senior Life – Healthcare in Junction City, KS at the age of 90.
Marjorie was born October 22, 1922 at rural Junction City, KS to Will and Laura Louise Gfeller Altwegg. She attended Acker Grade School and graduated from Junction City High School with the Class of 1941. She was married to Harvey LeRoy McVay on July 24, 1941 at the St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Alida, KS. They lived and farmed in the Wreford community until they moved into Junction City in 1987. They moved into Valley View Estates in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey on July 10, 2006, and she continued to live at Valley View. She had been a member of the Blueline 4-H Club, the Lyons Creek E.H.U., and was a lifelong member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Junction City, KS.
She is survived by two sons: Richard McVay and his wife Marcia of Sun City, AZ, and Larry McVay and his wife Kay of Maineville, OH; five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Noreen Zumbrunn of Chapman, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, and one sister Enid Niquette.
Funeral services will be held at the Zion United Church of Christ in Junction City, KS on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. Officiating will be Pastors Nikki Woolsey, Natalie Holdren and David VanDonge. Burial will be at the Wreford Cemetery, south of Junction City. The family will receive friends at the Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman, KS on Thursday evening, October 24, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Londeen Funeral Chapel will be open for visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University or the Zion United Church of Christ.
