Sundown Salute is in the black financially for 2014…by a substantial margin.
The Executive Director for Sundown Salute Sharon Glessner confirmed it was a good year for the annual Fourth of July celebration that spread out over four days. She estimated after all expenses there will be a surplus of $20,000 to $25,000.
“That is awesome. That is the first time since we haven’t been part of the City that that we’ve actually made money. Every other year has just been trying to recover from the year before.”
Possible reasons for the better year include the addition of the Ottaway Carnival, the Mudd Bugg fundraiser generated more revenue, there were more entries in the Freedom Runs, and the weather was mild three of the four days of the celebration…leading to some bigger crowds for the concerts.
