“God Bless America,” was the opening song for a musical held at Faith Tabernacle on Sunday November 12th. Children ages seven through 12 performed several musical numbers in a States convention backdrop.
Yankee Doodle chaired the convention narrating historical events in rhyme known by the delegates as “yak attacks”. Ms Dorian the Historian added color commentary. Each such outbreak led to a chorus or solo song relative to the event.
The convention was addressed by figures such as Ben Franklin who admonished attendees to build a nation founded upon biblical principles and the importance of prayer and humility. “In God We Trust,” became the emerging and strengthened theme as the rich history of our nation unfolded.
The convention explored the parallel themes of sacrifices made to forge and retain the value of freedom for which our nation is known while the kingdom of God likewise has veterans of service with one having given His life at Calvary for the freedom of all mankind.
Emotions ran high as the Amerikids collectively sang through a medley of anthems from each Branch of service while calling to respective members of the audience to stand and be honored for their service.
The Amerikids program was designed to honor the service of our veterans while also teaching the children to appreciate our national institutions. Program participants and attendees learned to honor and cherish the sacrifice behind national symbols and testaments to our collective heritage.
