Jordan White hit eight of nine free throws for the Junior Blues and scored 20 point to lead Washburn Rural to the win on their senior night. The Blue Jays struggled at the free throw line and had a tough time getting inside shots against the Rural defense.
Blue Jay coach Nick Perez noted the team didn’t do a good job of getting the ball into the paint. “We had some costly turnovers there at the end. ” Perez felt his team played hard, but has to learn to finish games.
Junction City ( 7-13 ) will now prepare to play in a Class 6A Substate Tournament next week. Pairings come out Saturday morning.
Washburn Rural ( 16-4 ) jumped out to an 8-1 lead and never trailed as they defeated the Junction City Lady Jays ( 5-15 ) 66-33. There was a running clock in the fourth quarter since Washburn Rural led by more than 30 points.
