During the Memorial Day – Click It or Ticket campaign just completed, the Junction City Police Department conducted overtime Check Lanes to aggressively enforce Kansas occupant protection and other traffic laws. During the campaign, officers wrote 20 adult safety belt citations, 1 youth citation
(14-17), and 1 child restraint citation (0-13), 1 texting while driving citation and 10 other citations and arrests.
According to Chief Dan Breci, “The important thing is not how many stops we made or how many tickets we wrote, but whether our efforts encourage safer driving decisions in the future. We will continue to do all in our power to ensure that drivers in Junction City are as safe as we can make them. Safety begins by adopting two simple rules: “no one rides in my car unless buckled in properly and driving and alcohol (in any quantity) do not mix.”
The Memorial Day – Click It or Ticket campaign was supported by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
