The estimated amount of federal heavy impact funding needed for the new Junction City High School project will total about $67 million. According to a report to the USD 475 Board of Education this week $58.3 million has been collected and another federal payment of $15 million is expected in the March to July 2019 time frame. That will exceed the amount allotted for the high school project.
In ensuing years the school district can expect a couple more federal heavy impact aid payments to arrive as well.
The remainder of the funding for the new school is coming from state aid.
