Betty Jean Roudybush

Betty Jean Roudybush, 94, a longtime resident of the St. George, Kansas area, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community.

She was born on December 16, 1924 near Corning, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Mary F. (Newland) McNeill. She attended Havensville schools before moving to St. George where she graduated from St. George High School. Betty married Donald Lewis Roudybush on April 21, 1941. She and Donald lived in the St. George area from 1950 through 2008. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Betty was a homemaker and loving mother to her family. She enjoyed going to the dances with Donald, roller skating, attending auctions and antiquing. She was also an excellent cook and baker. She and Donald had attended the St George Methodist Church for many years.

Her survivors include three sons: Robert L. Roudybush and wife Sherry of Topeka, KS, Mickey J. Roudybush of Topeka, KS, Ted R. Roudybush of Manhattan, KS; two daughters: Jeanne Winter and husband Jerry of Ft. Worth, TX, and Mary L. Van Gorden and husband Richard of Topeka, KS; 13 grandchildren, more than 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother Marvin “Vern” McNeill, and her sisters, Lorene Gerlt and Helen Osborne

Funeral services for Mrs. Roudybush will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Family will greet friends during a visitation beginning one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
