JCHS track teams compete at Salina Central

The Junction City Blue Jay boys track team scored 61.50 points to finish third, and the Lady Jays scored 50 points to finish 8th in the Salina Central Invitational.

For the Blue Jay boys Joshua Flanigan won the discus with a throw of 153'6. In the shotput Chris Jackson finished second with a throw of 45'5.50" and Ryan McCreath was fourth with a throw of 44'6.75. In the 3200 meter run Anthony Testa finished second in 9:53.3 while William Dee was fourth in 9:55.99. In the 1600 meter run William Dee captured third with a time of 4:37.16, Jacob Atkins fourth in 4:37.95 and Ethan Fontaine sixth in 4:39.31. Chance Tyson was fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.98, the Blue Jay 4  x 400 meter relay team fifth in 3:34.19. The members of the relay team included Keaton Savath, Kingston Timms, TreVion Ruffin and Isaiah Byers. The 4 x 400 relay team of Eddie Ortiz, Gerardo Mora, Alejandro Hernandez and Angel Vazquez finished fourth in 8:35.18.

For the Junction City girls Lorna Rae Pierce turned in a second place finish in the 1600 meters in 5:08.18 and third place in the 800 meters in 2:25.61. The 4 x 400 relay team of Daniella Okorie, Jada Williams, Aneres Peoples and D'Angel Baptiste captured second in 4:1.52. Daniella Okorie finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 35'11 and fourth in the 100 meter dash in 12.68, Kayla Covington third in the shotput at 36'5 and Gracie Erichsen fourth in the shotput at 35'3." The 4 x 100 relay team of Daniella Okorie, Aneres Peoples, Jada Williams and D'Angel Baptiste finished 5th in 51.41.

Manhattan won the boys team title and Salina Central the girls team title.
