Wind gusts cause problems

UPDATE:

Grandview Plaza Fire Chief Jeremy Bramwell confirmed that as of 8 p.m. Saturday streets in Grandview Plaza were cleared. There were not any injuries but one tree went through the roof of a house in two spots. Electric service was restored.

More damage assessment will be done Monday.

Grandview Plaza Fire Chief Jeremy Bramwell said winds Saturday afternoon resulted in tree damage. A number of trees fell on top of buildings. Siding was ripped off and in one case part of a roof was taken off.

There is also a power outage problem for the east side of town. Flint Hills Electric responded to Grandview Plaza.

Emergency Management noted that there were scattered power outages that occurred in Junction City.

Geary County Emergency Management has confirmed that high wind gusts estimated in the 50-60 mile an hour range have led to numerous downed trees in Junction City and Grandview Plaza. A tree also fell on a trailer home in Grandview Plaza. There were not any injuries reported.

There is a tornado watch in effect until 7 p.m. but no storm warnings have been issued for Geary County.
